Mandela Day saw a group of us gathering at Alma Road hall to put together activity books for the children at the Red Cross Hospital. Coerene Vosloo had found stories online and Kathy Heath did a lot of printing. Many others contributed toys and books and in the end we went heavily laden to the hospital in the afternoon to visit wards and interact with the children. Some of the gifts were handed over to the children and others went into stock for many days to come.

The craft training, always a popular event, was particularly successful and enjoyable this year. With its “Out of Africa” theme and the hard work Michelle Thomson put into it, there was something for everyone who attended.

The Ranger Facet Day saw the young ladies practising both their design and modeling skills as they created outfits from recycled material and then showed them and evening outfits off on the “runway”

By all accounts the flower tour up the West Coast, organised by Cheryl Stuart, was a delightful outing with many already booking their places for next year. And while some people chose to sit back and view the world from a bus, others more energetically joined in the Blisters for Bread Walk and saw the world from a different perspective. Takes all sorts and [/x_text][/x_column][x_column bg_color=”” type=”1/3″ style=”padding: 0px 0px 0px 0px; “][x_text]

October 2015

thank goodness we are not all the same!!

The Residential Training held at Melkbos was again well attended and the Neverland theme lent itself to lots of fun – and learning! The Saturday evening saw all dressing up so a visitor might have been surprised to have seen eye patches, red headscarves, feathers adorning heads, fairy wings and lots of pirate hats. One unfortunate had a major identity crisis and came adorned in fairy wings, an eye-patch, tutu and boots. Poor soul!

Every Teddy is of course a Superhero and ever more so at the Teddy Fun Day with games and crafts a-plenty, organised by the Superhero Supreme, in this instance Nicola Stuart!

And so we head into the last term of 2015. There are still quite a few activities ahead of us (there is a reminder of the dates below). I hope you will enjoy the next few months and do take the opportunity the improving weather presents to get out doors.
